Townsend Mechanical

The Townsend Gas Plant project was located in North Eastern BC. Alstar completed all mechanical installation of a 5,607,476 m3/day gas propane plus deep cut plant. The project was completed in one phase. The mechanical scope included:

  • Erection of client and Alstar supplied stick-built structural steel
  • Pipe rack and equipment module setting
  • Installation of ship loose interconnecting pipe spools, with some pipe spools requiring field measuring then welding and hydro-testing at the fabrication facility
  • Assembly of a 24,000 HP modular Solar Turbine Package (1 of 3 modular packages on piles, in the world to date)
  • Installation of a 198’ field welded flare stack, 6 Towers, 2 Stacks, 1 Compressor Package, 1 Separator Vessel Package and 2 Knock-Out Drum Packages
  • Construction of a Mole Sieve Cryo Area c/w Aluminum cold box and SS piping
  • The setting of an MCC building and various other utility buildings.

Alstar managed subcontractors for the construction of the Solar Turbine Package Building assembly and Hydraulic Torquing and worked with the local Treaty 8 affiliated contractors throughout project execution. Upon mechanical completion crews assisted with commissioning and startup support.
